History of Lee Conlee House, Domestic Abuse ShelterLee Conlee House, Inc. is a state certified 24-hour domestic violence shelter for women and children in Putnam County, Fl. Our services are free to victims of domestic, dating and sexual violence. Since 1998 it has been our goal to provide care and access to services needed by those wanting to start a new life free of violence. We provide advocacy to victims of sexual assault and domestic or dating violence through a 24-hour hotline, assistance with injunctions for protection and support through the court process, teen, youth, and adult outreach programs, support groups for women and teens, prevention programs and community education. We partner with the Putnam County Health Department to provide advocacy through participation in the Violence Intervention Prevention Program, a 24-hour responder program for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Our name is to honor the memory of Leon Conlee, (1930-1997) a former Palatka, Florida vice-mayor, city commissioner and civic leader whose concern about the plight of victims led to advocacy and support for so many. The Conlee family continues to be actively involved in supporting Lee Conlee House and its programs. Lee Conlee House is a member of the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a network of 42 domestic violence agencies or centers throughout Florida. Lee Conlee House is certified by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), and is administered by an Executive Director, an Executive Board of Directors and a Board of Directors. Lee Conlee House, Inc. is a 501.3c non-profit organization, funded in part by the FCADV, public and private grants and donations. Several fundraisers are held annually to also provide financial support for programs and services. |
