Services for Domestic Abuse24-HOUR HOTLINELee Conlee House staffs a helpline for victims of domestic and dating violence and in coordination with the Putnam County Health Department, also provides hotline services for victims of sexual violence. All calls are confidential and can be anonymous if the caller prefers. Callers talk to trained advocates and receive safety planning and referrals to associated services as needed. EMERGENCY SHELTER Battered women and children in crisis are provided shelter for at least a 72-hour time frame; longer stays are approved as necessary for residents to work toward achieving independent housing. While in shelter, women receive referrals to provide needed benefits such as child care, job applications, counseling and more. Male clients are given the same access to services; shelter is provided through sister agencies with co-ed facilities or through program resources to provide temporary emergency shelter accommodations with business partners. Advocacy provided to callers/clients is empowerment-based. TRANSITIONAL HOUSING Shelter Residents may be offered transitional housing where they may stay for up to a 2-year period while pursuing job training or educational goals. Program space is limited and residence at the transitional house is determined through a screening process. Contact the Transitional House Coordinator for details at 386-325-3092 OUTREACH Further services are provided to former shelter residents and survivors/victims of domestic and dating violence through the Lee Conlee House Outreach Program. Clients may apply for victim compensation and re-location funds, receive counseling, referrals for health/emotional health issues and assistance with local resources regarding food, child care, immigration status and more. COURT ADVOCACY A trained advocate is located at the Putnam County Courthouse to assist any victim with completing paperwork for an Injunction for Protection for domestic, dating, sexual or repeat violence and relocation. Courtroom advocacy, safety planning and referrals are provided and follow up as necessary. To contact the court advocate office call 386-326-2711. PRIMARY PREVENTION of VIOLENCE An advocate specializing in prevention education provides outreach programs in the public and private school system and local faith-based groups teaching middle and high school youth about healthy relationships, red flags for abusive behaviors, resources, referrals and advocacy. “Safe Dates,” a research-based curriculum for adolescents is used, along with other educational tools. Special events for teen outreach are organized, teen peer groups are mentored and trained for peer-to-peer counseling and referral. Buy-in and support from the community is essential to the success of program thus a Community Action Team comprised of a cross-section of local people is one of the opportunities available to those who share an interest in a violence-free future for our community. ONLINE SAFETY Online Safety is a program developed by Lee Conlee House, the Palatka Police Department and Putnam County Health Department staff as members of the Putnam County Victims Task Force and in partnership with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Aimed at educating parents and guardians, the program explains some of the mysteries of the Internet and the safety issues of social networks like My Space and Face Book. Presentations are provided free of charge to parent groups and civic organizations. SPEAKERS BUREAU Community and professional education is provided to a variety of groups in the area, including civic, educational, clubs, faith-based and professionals regarding Lee Conlee House and the services it offers, the topics of domestic and dating violence and internet safety. Training is provided at the professional level and is offered to management, HR, medical and other personnel in the dynamics of domestic, dating and sexual violence, its effects in the workforce and more.
